I love phone cases and skins. For as long as it’s been possible to decorate a mobile phone or a laptop I have done. I have a variety of hard cases available on RedBubble but I was hugely excited when GelaSkins rebranded as Nuvango and announced that their amazing range of skins were available for print-on-demand artists. There are literally skins for every bit of electronics you can think of, not just iPhones and Blackberrys, there are Playstation skins! DS skins! Nook and Kindle skins! Wii skins! They do hard cases for the major phones too, but these skins are ideal for anything you want to protect, without adding extra weight or bulk. I’ve used this brand of skin for years (I have a 7 year old iPod classic in one of these skins and its still perfect) so I’m very excited to finally be able to offer them with my art on them!
It’s currently 15% off all hoodies and sweatshirts over at RedBubble! Use code HOODIE15
There are also new products available on RedBubble- tote bags, throw pillows and bedding!
Last bit of news for today- the latest novella in Nico Murray’s excellent vampire series “Winterblood” is out now, and the next full length novel “Stealing Sunlight” will be available in November!
It’s not yet December, and no doubt the holidays still seem a long way off, but really it’s not that long at all! Best to get your shopping done now, no one likes running around shopping centres at 6pm on Christmas Eve. Plus you can’t buy awesome things from online retailers at the last minute! Why not? Because of shipping.
If you’d like to buy something from one of my stores – Etsy or Folksy – then time is running out. Below are the very last deadlines for standard shipping as recommended by Royal Mail.
- USA & Canada – 10th December
- Western Europe – 12th December
- UK – 13th December
- Everywhere Else – 5th December
Please note that in the UK I maybe able to offer signed for delivery after the 13th but it will cost more, and I advise you to contact me first.
Please also note that if there is a massive snow storm and your town (on another continent to me) is cut off there isn’t very much I can do about it, though if I had super powers I would.
Any orders made from the DeviantArt store or Spoonflower are shipping from their facilities in the US, unfortunately I cannot find details of their last shipping dates, however since items are printed on demand there may be a delay so order ASAP if you need anything from there.
Last Order dates for the RedBubble store are available here.

I’m sure I’ve mentioned Spoonflower and their amazing fabric products before, but now they have two new items that I’m going to take a few minutes to squee over.
The must amazing of the two products is custom wallpaper. Yep, actual wallpaper, for walls, not the kind that goes on your computer screen. Gone are the days of wandering around hardware stores trying to find something that isn’t terrible. Now you can create your very own wallpaper. Or (if the artist has enabled it) you could cover your walls with your favourite prints.
I’ve only enabled a few of my prints as wallpapers as not all of them work on that scale, but look, OctoSquidy wallpaper, perfect for a kids room!
The other new product is polyester wall decals you can move around. Big wall designs have been gaining in popularity for a while, and these kind of stickers are also great for laptops and fridges. Again, I’ve only made a few of my designs available so far, but I do have plans to introduce more next year. I decided to enable the single sheet calendar designs as decals, I thought they’d be useful in a college dorm room or somewhere else with limited space. I’m going to test one in the kitchen and see how it fairs (and whether you can write on them).

September is drawing to a close, the weather is getting a bit more wintery (England didn’t have a summer this year) and I’m sorry to say it’s time to think about Christmas/Yule/New Years. Well it is for artists and other creative types at least.
I’ve a few different calendar offerings for you this year.
First of all there are two different collected art calendars available in the DeviantArt store –
Zodiac Calendar by =phantoms-siren on deviantART
Art of Phantoms Siren Calendar by =phantoms-siren on deviantART
And now we also have two single sheet calendars. The first is an update of last years nouveau piece.
Available as a photo print here – 2013 Nouveau One Sheet Calendar by =phantoms-siren on deviantART
This design is also available as a tea towel, or as a movable wall decal.
The second is new for 2013 and features the “Books” design.
Available as a photo print here – 2013 One Page Calendar by =phantoms-siren on deviantART
This design is also available as a tea towel, or as a movable wall decal.
My Folksy shop has now been restocked with ALL the card designs I have left. A lot of these won’t or can’t be repeated in future so grab them before they’re gone.
If you’re interested in commissioning a piece, I have some slots available at the moment. Just drop me a message by following the ‘Commissions’ link to the left.
Here’s a couple of recent commission pieces –
Simplistic portrait, £10 each til September 1st.
For complex and art nouveau pieces please contact me for an estimate.
Tattoo of the phrase “An awful lot of running to do” in Gallifreyan.
Whoops! It’s been a whole month since my last post. Oh dear. Where have I been? Well, I got onto a bit of a fan art kick and I didn’t want to flood the WordPress with it, since it was mostly silly nonsense. However, I have been working on a serious project, I’m gradually working through the back catalogue and editing them so they’re suitable for the RedBubble t-shirt printing process!
Here’s a little selection of what’s in the store.
Look OctoSquidy is available in kiddies sizes as well as adult! All the Change Cage Cities and the SteamGirls collections are there and the rest of the Abney Park pieces should be following shortly.
The great thing about RedBubble is that you get to choose the colour of the shirt, so if you’re not a fan of purple of brown you can change it. Some options have been disabled, since white print doesn’t look very good on a white shirt, but where possible I’ve left as many colours available as possible.
There are also hard cases for iPhones (sorry no other phone types at the moment, though I am looking into options for this) and at the other end of the budget there are super cheap vinyl stickers, perfect if you want a piece without spending a fortune.

First off, here’s some steampunk for you. I actually started this back in June 2010, it was one of the first things I tried to create when I upgraded from my beloved (but clunky) G4. Because I also upgraded from Photoshop CS2 to CS5 at the same time, I found myself totally overwhelmed. The program was too different and the screen too much better. Seriously going from a tiny cheap plasma screen to a wide screen beast makes any kind of graphics work look and feel totally different. Well, having abandoned this mostly uncoloured, I finally dragged it out again just before Christmas and got it finished.
I’ve never been terribly happy with the focus on pirates and other ne’er-do-wells in the steampunk subculture, I think it might be time to start representing the other side of the argument. Airship pirates are all glamourous and that, but in reality I think I’d probably have more fun on the side of justice and not having all your stuff nicked 😀 Plus I wanted an opportunity to portray a slightly more realistic female fighting outfit 🙂
Prints available at DeviantArt : Folksy : Etsy
One of the major changes with Photoshop CS5 was the paint-effect brushes. I haven’t had many opportunities to play with them, other than when I was first learning my way around the program. I’ve been feeling a bit restless with the Art Nouveau style recently, so when a friend asked for fan art of the modern BBC Sherlock adaptation it seemed like the perfect opportunity.
At 4am this morning I randomly decided to change my Facebook timeline cover. This is from a REALLY old piece, but it’s the only thing I have that suits the horizontal format. I’ll get around to making something specific eventually. If you’d like to use this as your cover just click on the image to download it 🙂
Hope you all have a good weekend 😀
2011 is almost over, 2012 is just around the corner and I wanted to make you all a little freebie gift for being so good to me this year. So here’s a little desk calendar featuring the Airship Pirates city mascots.
Click on the image above to get the full size image. (It’s set to A4, the standard international printer size, if you’re using another size just scale to fit when you print.)
Cut off the white areas and cut the slits on the left hand side to put the tabs through.
Then just fold along the lines between the images.
You’ll end up a three sided calendar that stands on its own.
Please note that whilst it works with paper it’ll look better and last longer on thin card.
You can purchase photo quality prints of this, in various sizes, from DeviantArt if your printer won’t cooperate 😀
I’ll have a stall full of all things steam nouveau at the Leeds Steampunk Market this Saturday! Hope to see you there!
Eeeeeeeeee!!!!!! Can you tell that I’m hugely excited about this?!?! Three of my designs are now available as print-on-demand fabric!
The examples shown here are in the basic quilting cotton, but it’s also available in canvas, knit, twill, SILK, and pieces start from the 8″ square sample size to as many yards as you’d like. There are only three designs available at the moment, but I’ll be adding more in the run up to the winter holidays.
Check them out on Spoonflower!
Also, the DeviantArt calendars are now set up to print for 2012, if you like to get your calendar buying in early.

All sorts of other prints are available in the DeviantArt store, and greeting cards are available from Etsy and Folksy.
