It’s not yet December, and no doubt the holidays still seem a long way off, but really it’s not that long at all! Best to get your shopping done now, no one likes running around shopping centres at 6pm on Christmas Eve. Plus you can’t buy awesome things from online retailers at the last minute! Why not? Because of shipping.
If you’d like to buy something from one of my stores – Etsy or Folksy – then time is running out. Below are the very last deadlines for standard shipping as recommended by Royal Mail.
- USA & Canada – 10th December
- Western Europe – 12th December
- UK – 13th December
- Everywhere Else – 5th December
Please note that in the UK I maybe able to offer signed for delivery after the 13th but it will cost more, and I advise you to contact me first.
Please also note that if there is a massive snow storm and your town (on another continent to me) is cut off there isn’t very much I can do about it, though if I had super powers I would.
Any orders made from the DeviantArt store or Spoonflower are shipping from their facilities in the US, unfortunately I cannot find details of their last shipping dates, however since items are printed on demand there may be a delay so order ASAP if you need anything from there.
Last Order dates for the RedBubble store are available here.

September is drawing to a close, the weather is getting a bit more wintery (England didn’t have a summer this year) and I’m sorry to say it’s time to think about Christmas/Yule/New Years. Well it is for artists and other creative types at least.
I’ve a few different calendar offerings for you this year.
First of all there are two different collected art calendars available in the DeviantArt store –
Zodiac Calendar by =phantoms-siren on deviantART
Art of Phantoms Siren Calendar by =phantoms-siren on deviantART
And now we also have two single sheet calendars. The first is an update of last years nouveau piece.
Available as a photo print here – 2013 Nouveau One Sheet Calendar by =phantoms-siren on deviantART
This design is also available as a tea towel, or as a movable wall decal.
The second is new for 2013 and features the “Books” design.
Available as a photo print here – 2013 One Page Calendar by =phantoms-siren on deviantART
This design is also available as a tea towel, or as a movable wall decal.
My Folksy shop has now been restocked with ALL the card designs I have left. A lot of these won’t or can’t be repeated in future so grab them before they’re gone.
If you’re interested in commissioning a piece, I have some slots available at the moment. Just drop me a message by following the ‘Commissions’ link to the left.
Here’s a couple of recent commission pieces –
Simplistic portrait, £10 each til September 1st.
For complex and art nouveau pieces please contact me for an estimate.
Tattoo of the phrase “An awful lot of running to do” in Gallifreyan.
Whoops! It’s been a whole month since my last post. Oh dear. Where have I been? Well, I got onto a bit of a fan art kick and I didn’t want to flood the WordPress with it, since it was mostly silly nonsense. However, I have been working on a serious project, I’m gradually working through the back catalogue and editing them so they’re suitable for the RedBubble t-shirt printing process!
Here’s a little selection of what’s in the store.
Look OctoSquidy is available in kiddies sizes as well as adult! All the Change Cage Cities and the SteamGirls collections are there and the rest of the Abney Park pieces should be following shortly.
The great thing about RedBubble is that you get to choose the colour of the shirt, so if you’re not a fan of purple of brown you can change it. Some options have been disabled, since white print doesn’t look very good on a white shirt, but where possible I’ve left as many colours available as possible.
There are also hard cases for iPhones (sorry no other phone types at the moment, though I am looking into options for this) and at the other end of the budget there are super cheap vinyl stickers, perfect if you want a piece without spending a fortune.

I’ve not being doing all that well with the resolutions have I? In my defence I lost well over a week to a very nasty round of flu. But I’m back now, and I would like to take a moment to talk to you about dead Cthulhu, who lies dreaming in his great house at sunken R’yleh, awaiting the moment when the stars will be right, that he may return and consume the world utterly.
Well, the incredibly talented Picky Miss (whose awesome work I’ve previously mentioned here) has just completed the most amazing piece of cross stitch for me. Check this out –
Look at the detail! The Elder Sign, the squid, the ‘Color Out of Space’ themed flowers around the edge! Isn’t it just fantastic?! Truly a must have for any devoted cultist, acolyte or H.P. Lovecraft fan.
If you have no idea what I’m talking about, go to your local book store, or you’re preferred internet book market, and buy this – The Necronomicon. Alternatively, WikiSource has a bunch of his stories for free, here.
Just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone who came out to the Leeds Steampunk Market on Saturday. It was lovely to meet you and get to talk Mucha, Doctor Who and all things Abney Park with you all!
I’m working through your emails at the moment but the new products (POSTERS! OMG!) will be going up on Etsy/Folksy in the next few days. Most things can also be found on DeviantArt in the mean time.
Eeeeeeeeee!!!!!! Can you tell that I’m hugely excited about this?!?! Three of my designs are now available as print-on-demand fabric!
The examples shown here are in the basic quilting cotton, but it’s also available in canvas, knit, twill, SILK, and pieces start from the 8″ square sample size to as many yards as you’d like. There are only three designs available at the moment, but I’ll be adding more in the run up to the winter holidays.
Check them out on Spoonflower!
Also, the DeviantArt calendars are now set up to print for 2012, if you like to get your calendar buying in early.

All sorts of other prints are available in the DeviantArt store, and greeting cards are available from Etsy and Folksy.
In other news, .the Abney Park Airship Pirates RPG is now available as a PDF!
If you want to keep up with all the new product news, up to date and as they’re listed, please consider liking my Facebook page!
A great man once said-
“A good bookshop is just a genteel Black Hole that knows how to read.” – Sir Terry Pratchett
And that is absolutely true. A good bookshop should contain significantly more books than you could ever imagine it containing, and it should distort time and space in such away that ten minutes of browsing turning into three hours and a budget of £10 should mysteriously turn into £70 worth of purchases.
My person heaven of book shopping is Fables Book Shop in the village of St Marychurch near Torquay. If you ever happen to be in the area I strongly recommend it. It’s tiny, not just compared to monsters like Waterstones and Borders (RIP) but tiny compared to the average living room. However it’s literally packed to the rafters with books, and you always get the impression that the owners have read every one of them before adding them to their stock list. It’s the kind of store where every shelf has multiple rows of books, stacks of books, tottering piles of books! I found a gorgeous hardback set of The Larklight Series by Philip Reeve hidden away the first time I visited and I’ve made a point of going back every time we’re in the area ever since. And there in lies the problem- this store is about as far away as its possible to be from my home town and still be in England. On a good day its a 6 hour drive.
So what do we have closer to home?
Did you know that as well as getting your own specific commission it’s also possible to buy prints of some of my previous work, as well as greetings cards and other fun things?
I now have an ArtFire Artisan Studio! A selection of individual postcards, notecards and greetings cards, as well as larger packs, will be listed here over the next few weeks. And the great thing about this site is that you don’t have to make an account in order to make a purchase!
I also have an Etsy Store including a few more knitting/craft focused items, there are a selection of Christmas cards still in my Folksy Shop and for prints of more or less everything (framed or not, on canvas or just on photographic paper) as well as mousemats, coasters, mugs, calendars (and even a jigsaw puzzle) take a look at the DeviantArt Store.
Ok, enough of that, we’ll get back to our regularly scheduled programming shortly….
